SUPPORTING EDUCATION in the Indian Ocean

Education reduces poverty and contributes to the stability of the country. Education allows children to integrate into the local socio-economic fabric and access stable and sustainable employment. It stimulates productivity, innovation and entrepreneurship.

The projects that caught our attention perfectly combine the  four pillars of sustainable development:

economic, social, environmental and institutional.

L'association ANAK à Bali

ANAK Association in Bali

Behind the gentle and welcoming face of this little dream island, sometimes hides another reality that the smiles of the Balinese too often tend to make us forget: some families are completely left behind, especially when they are isolated and family solidarity or Gotong Royong can no longer function.

ONG Zazakely

ONG Zazakely

In Madagascar, there are no public nursery schools, only private schools welcome children from 3 to 6 years old, accessible only to wealthy families. To help disadvantaged children acquire skills before primary school, the NGO Zazakely created the Espace Eveil au Nid de Cigognes, in partnership with the Baldung Grien college in Hoerdt Bas-Rhin, which supported the construction and operation of the building.

L'association Baobab Miary

Baobab Miary Association

Feeding and caring for bodies, educating minds, solidarity for the children of Miary, a small village near Tuléar, in the southwest of the Big Island, known for its sacred banyan tree, is the strength of the Baobab association. Founded more than twenty years ago, it uses all the resources collected to achieve a dual mission:

  • Educating through a nursery and primary school (6 levels), in a country where public nursery school does not exist, and where public primary school is more expensive for parents than our structure; with thirty students per class, we differ from the Malagasy approach where the number of students often borders on a hundred; for Baobab this means attracting teachers far from the big city and improving the quality of their teaching through educational assistance or continuing training
  • Providing care and nourishment, in particular through a school canteen and garden in an area affected by famine and malnutrition: five days a week, children are assured of at least one meal. And our educational garden allows them to learn sustainable farming techniques, to have classes outside the school walls and to diversify their food by self-consuming the production; a morning snack, eye and dental care, protection against sexual violence complete our commitment to children.
